FusionFall Retro Status Update 8/14/2017
« on: August 14, 2017, 08:45:02 PM »
We've got some super awesome news! Multiplayer functionality has been added and is mostly complete. What does this mean? Basically, we've completed the whole system that has to do with getting in the game and running around in the world. However, we still don't have character saving or important world elements. You can see a quick video of what this looks like here:

As you can see, it's pretty basic, but it's super stable and seems to be working like a charm. So what's next? First on the list is the database stuff. The database controls a TON of the stuff about the game, from saving your players, to loading NPCs, to allowing Nanos to function properly! You can imagine it's one of the most important things alongside multiplayer functionality. We've done some preliminary work on converting our existing database stuff to work with the current stable system. After the database is fully implemented, features can quickly be put in and we can launch the Future Zone.

I know what some of you might be thinking. Wasn't all this already done? Yes and no. Over the past year, we've been doing tons of research and figuring out the ins and outs of gameplay features. We had originally intended a release late last year, but discovered some issues with our all important database stuff. Since we started the backend over from scratch, it may seem like we've completely thrown everything out. However, all the prior existing features and gameplay elements have been figured out, and can be implemented with relative ease.

We don't yet have a release window for the Future Zone, but we've overcome one of the two major hurdles in getting multiplayer and the Future ready and are eager to get everyone in the game and playing together!
