I don't believe so since they're references and you're not trying to lay claim to creating the brand, but I've never published a book professionally, so this is an opinion.

While I was typing up this response I did some research, and many seem to agree that you can use them without paying for them, but you can't replace them for everyday words. You have to be specific when you use them.

Probably not all of them, but just the ones I can think of:
  • Transformers films
  • Abram's Star Trek films
  • Indiana Jones films
  • Harry Potter films
  • Marvel Cinematic Universe
  • Miyazaki films
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • most DC Animated films
  • Nolan's Batman trilogy
  • Sherlock Holmes films
  • Toy Story films
  • Rise of the Guardians
  • almost anything Disney & Pixar
  • most Scooby-Doo films (minus their team-ups with KISS and WWE and their two live action direct-to-video movies)
  • Ninja Turtles films
  • Lazer Team films
  • LEGO films
  • Jurassic World films
  • Argo
  • My Hero Academia: Two Heroes
  • Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Nergal Jr Nano:

This nano was a collab with EemDyscent. He drew the concept art and I modeled, textured, and rigged the nano.

Check out his art thread!

I would absolutely enjoy having this nano in the game.

This sounds like fun. I'll try to make it.

I pretty much pulled my hair out over the Kiva Shirt. That was the hardest item for me to obtain.

While I didn't have any expectations on the new Smash DLC, I was sorta hoping they'd get Sora in it. Oh well. The choices were interesting. I liked the Hero set up, only because it reminds me of the Ninja Turtles in Injustice 2.

Link's Awakening looks like a fun buy. I may pick it up at launch.

Not at all surprised by Mario & Sonic's Olympic announcement; I was anticipating it. I may purchase it. I haven't played one of these in a while. I wonder if the Tokyo Olympics will use the game in their advertising.

Sad that Pokémon Colosseum wasn't chosen as a port to the Switch, but oh well. That's just my hopeful wishes.

Is my extreme naivete an invitation for me to get treated like trash? because I honestly feel like it is

It's not. There's no excuse for treating someone poorly.

I'm pretty excited for the game. I don't know how often I'll do these raids (my internet is pretty weak), but the GYM set up is pretty interesting to try out. The only question I am still faced with is which version I'm getting.

Scorbunny is going to be my starter.

I don't think I've ever done such a short video, but please enjoy my latest video about Mr. Green.

Have you heard of the name "Goon Squad" in fusionfall before?

In the game, no. But I have seen it on the forums.

I've seen you mention Captain Planet quite favorably. As someone who's never seen the show, what's it got going for it?

I haven't forgotten this. I've been thinking about how I want to answer this.

I'll outright say that this show isn't for everyone. Its heavy-handed handling of its pro-environmental message can turn people away from it (but in all fairness, the show is called Captain Planet and the Planetneers - it pretty much warns you from the outset that this is going to bash their environmental message into your mind). However, the show is such a product of its time, that it's pretty humorous to watch (for me), and I like the characters just fine.
