FusionFall Retro Weekly Updates - Instances
« on: January 05, 2018, 08:27:02 PM »
Welcome back everyone! In this update, we are going to go over instancing and how it works.

Instancing is a common practice used in games, generally MMOs and other multiplayer titles, where players are separated into their own version of the game world. In FusionFall, instancing is what allows for Infected Zones and Fusion Lairs to work!

Nanos are collected by fighting Fusions in their Fusion Lairs. You can probably imagine that if monsters in Fusion Lairs were shared across all players, you’d never be able to kill the Fusion and collect your Nano because hundreds of other players would also be trying to do that! Fortunately, instances are created just for you when you enter a Fusion Lair. This means you, as well as anyone in your group, will get a set of monsters that appear only for you while you’re inside.

The same applies for Infected Zones, but in a slightly different way. Infected Zone instances can be publicly joined and left. Monsters, NPCs and players inside Infected Zones only appear to you while you’re inside. This is done so that you can’t get attacked by monsters from inside an Infected Zone while you’re outside, and ensures your client won’t get bogged down in keeping track of everything going on inside an Infected Zone.

For FusionFall Retro, Instances had to be custom remade from the ground up since we couldn’t retrieve the original’s, but we’ve managed to get everything exactly as it was!

Once again, thanks for reading our weekly post! Stay tuned for more information!
